Cast Glass Bird Kōtare/Kingfisher
Luke Jacomb StudioMāori admired the Kōtare or Kingfisher for being like a watchful sentry. The bird perches motionless, then attacks its prey in a sudden blur. More common in the North Island than the South Island of Aotearoa, the Kōtare prefers open water or countryside with elevated perches for hunting and fishing. Living mainly in pairs, they’re often seen presenting a distinctive silhouette on power poles, fence posts and washing lines throughout the country.
This stunningly crafted cast glass Kōtare/Kingfisher bird is created by the incredible glass studio, Luke Jacomb Studio. It has a screw in the back so it can easily be screwed directly into your wall. Looks beautiful alone or as part of a collection.
